Handbook of Best Practices in Dual Career of Athletes in DC4AC project participating countries
Description
This is a comprehensive handbook documenting best practices in dual career development for athletes across seven European countries (Romania, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, Slovakia, Greece, and Bulgaria). Funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ Sport Program, the DC4AC (Regional Center for Dual Career Policies and Advocacy) project aims to develop a functional organism for dual career awareness, monitoring, evaluation, and research. The handbook explores each country's unique approaches to supporting athletes in balancing sports careers with education and professional development, highlighting initiatives from national Olympic committees, educational institutions, sports federations, and government bodies. It provides a detailed overview of existing legislative frameworks, educational support systems, career transition programs, and challenges faced by athletes in maintaining dual careers across different European contexts. The document serves as a valuable resource for understanding the current state of dual career support and identifying potential strategies for improving athlete development and post-athletic career transitions.
