Brazilian student-athletes' perceived possession of dual career competencies
Description
The study examined the perceived dual career competencies among Brazilian student-athletes, focusing on differences by sex, educational institution type, and educational level. Involving 745 participants (54% female; 8% with disabilities), the study utilized the Dual Career Competency Questionnaire. Key competencies evaluated included Dual Career Management, Career Plan, Emotional Awareness, Social Intelligence, and Adaptability. Significant results indicated that female student-athletes from public institutions felt better equipped in Dual Career Management compared to their male counterparts. In contrast, female athletes in private institutions noted lower Emotional Awareness. These findings aim to assist coaches, families, and stakeholders in enhancing support for student-athletes, while also contributing to the limited research in this emerging field in Brazil.
