EU – Grass Roots Sports

Description

The European Commission (through its Directorate-General for Education and Culture) set up a High Level Group (HLG) on Grassroots Sport, under the political leadership of Commissioner Tibor Navracsics for whom the promotion of grassroots sport is a declared priority. The HLG was mandated to evaluate the place and role of grassroots sport in European society and provide ideas on how the EU could better support and develop grassroots sport in order to strengthen the network of sports clubs. This included an analysis of the role of grassroots sport in the promotion of tolerance and social inclusion.
