This document explores the challenges and needs of high-performance student-athletes in balancing their academic and sporting commitments, focusing on the establishment of a Dual Career Mentor Centre in Latvia. It presents findings from a survey conducted with 81 athletes, highlighting that many prioritize their education to enhance their sports performance and communication skills. The study emphasizes the importance of adequate infrastructure, flexible scheduling, and effective communication between universities and sports entities, as well as the need for financial support and time management education. Ultimately, the authors advocate for improved mechanisms to promote dual careers, fostering both academic and athletic excellence.
